"I will go back to my daily routine," said Kim Do-young (21). "I will be happy until today." After a huge season, he won all the awards, and will return to Gwangju with his golden glove in his arms.안전놀이터
At the 2024 professional baseball Golden Glove Awards held at the COEX Auditorium in Samseong-dong, Seoul, Kim won the third baseman's prize. He swept 280 votes out of 288 votes and grabbed his first career gold glove with 97.2 percent of the vote.
This year, in her third year, Kim posted a flurry of records. She posted a batting average of 0.347 with 38 homers, 109 RBIs, 143 runs, and 40 steals, ranking first in terms of score and slugging percentage (0.647). She became the youngest player in the history of games with 30 home runs and 30 steals, and produced rare records including natural cycling, the least at-bat, to lead Kia to an overall championship. She played in 141 games, and played 1,111 innings as third baseman, the fourth-most among all infielders in this season's league.
Kim Do-young, who received 95 out of 101 votes in the regular season MVP vote and won 94.06% of the vote, was selected as the best third baseman in the Golden Glove.
After winning the award, Kim Do-young said, "After the Golden Glove, I will go back to my daily life and prepare hard for next season."
Kim Do-young's explosive power has been at the center of the box office this year, when the KBO league welcomed 10 million spectators for the first time. Starting as the MVP of the regular season, she swept the awards at award ceremonies hosted by various media companies as well as the Korea Professional Baseball Players Association, the Retired Players Association, and the Nippon Professional Baseball Association. The Golden Glove is the last award ceremony of the year. During her stay in Seoul during the award week, Kim had busy days full of unique experiences, going through various events, interviews, appearances on entertainment shows and photo shoots. She dyed her hair and showed off her fashion sense by wearing a different suit every time.
With the Golden Glove award on the day, Kim Do-young finished her outing by collecting 12 trophies from a total of seven awards ceremonies. "I will go back to my daily life," said Kim Do-young, who said, "I will never be complacent about the good parts of this year and bear the weight of many trophies."
Kim already feels responsibility for the next year as she had the best season, saying, "I have achieved what I aimed for, but I still feel that I still have a lot to improve. I think I will score around 80 points this year," Kim said. "Maybe I will not always score 100 points. I don't think I will be able to do it like this next year. I just want to do it similarly this year, and I will train in the future, believing that there will definitely be a season where I can do better than this year. I want to continue playing without injuries and attend more award ceremonies like this."
Kim Do-young said at the end of her acceptance speech on stage, "I hope the cold winter will go away and everyone will have a warm end of the year." Like Choi Hyung-woo, a senior who said earlier, "Our country is having a hard time now, and baseball fans hope that the players are happy when they play," Kim Do-young was also interpreted as referring to the recent chaotic domestic political situation. "I think it's up to you to understand," Kim Do-young said when asked about this.
Kim is moving to Gwangju after winning the Golden Glove Award, and is preparing for another hot winter for next year. At the end of this year, she has decided to give herself a camera. "I want to take pictures of beautiful scenery," said Kim Do-young, an emotional "F."
